Pray

Prayer is the key to what we are doing at Books and More and in Jordan.  Pray for our opportunities and outreach in these ways:
  • Jordanian Government and continued good relationship with them.
  • God opens doors through relationships built at Books and More.
  • Health of our staff and volunteers
  • Wisdom to navigate financial hurdles that come and go
  • For two additional staff members who are scheduled to join us in 2024.
  • Pray for additional staff from in Jordan and abroad to fill specific roles.
  • Pray for conversations over coffee and tea to create opportunities.
You can also "Connect" with us so that you can get updates and specifics on ever changing prayer needs.

Short-Term Opportunities

We love having volunteers come to Jordan and help us with events and activities.  We have programs available for all ages and backgrounds in Jordan.  That means we have opportunities for people to come and serve in a variety of ways.  Whether you are 16 or 80, we have a place where you can contribute to the purpose of Books and More.

Short Term Team:

  • 10-14 day teams that can help with Kid's camp, Cooking Classes, Art Camps and Story Time.  You can also help with facility projects like painting, gardening, cleaning and light contruction.

Internships:

  • We offer a variety of internships for high school and college students.  We can base this internship on your skills as well as your educational requirements.

Long-Term Opportunities

We are a small staff with big dreams. We are praying for the right partners to join us to expand this vision and these opportunities across Amman and to other communities nearby. These can be full-time, part-time, seasonal roles and more.  We love having volunteers come for a summer, a semester, a few weeks or months at a time Though we need more full-time staff, these roles could fit into a shorter term capacity as well.

This person will lead our programs for children and build relationships with parents.  Programs could include, but are not limited to:
  • Mom’s Groups
  • Story Hours
  • Activities during the school year
  • Summer camps and programs
This person will also coordinate with local schools for training programs and school field trips.
This person will develop programs and outreach for Middle School and High School students.  Programs could include, but are not limited to:
  • Events and programs
  • After school events
  • Volunteer projects
  • Summer activities
*This role could be combined into one position with another
of our long-term opportunities.
This person will develop programs and outreach for University students and young adults Programs could include, but are not to limited to:
  • Events and programs in the evenings
  • Volunteer projects
  • Community development
*This role could be combined into one position with another
of our long-term opportunities.
This person would oversee our weekly and monthly calendar. They would coordinate schedules and programs and oversee our hospitality outreach.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Monthly scheduling of guest housing
  • Advertising and promotion of events
  • Welcome new members and guests and give tours.
  • Serve as a host for events on site
  • Prepare guest housing and provide for guest needs.
This person will develop new programs for women in the community. This will be both on-site and in the community.
Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
  • Conversation partners
  • English classes
  • Women’s book groups
  • Training and job skills
  • Activities- cooking, art, music and culture classes
This person would be involved in the promotion and development of future side expansions in the Jordanian community.  We would like to be in 2 additional neighboring cities within the next 3-5 years.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • The development of a new site and expansion to other neighborhoods.
  • Team building
  • Staff development
  • Fundraising for the new project(s)
  • Promotion of the project and site-locally and stateside
